Are your English skills letting you down at work? Take some English lessons.
There are many non-native English speakers living in English speaking countries around the world. While their general level of English is very good, when it comes to the working environment it is essential that use of the language is correct.

Increasingly there are more and more people travelling to different countries to live and work. As many people learn English in schools around the world, there are a lot of people who purposely travel to English speaking countries to gain employment. The level of English most people have is very high, and there are generally no problems in everyday situations. But when it comes to the use of English in business situations it is slightly different.

If you are working in an office-based job then it is likely that you will be required to write documents in English. Informal or phone-based communication is generally fine, but to produce and distribute documents in English you must be sure that the content is 100% accurate. Any queries that may arise from a language difficulty during spoken interaction can be sorted out immediately. But sending a formal written document with errors can lead to confusion and at worst a loss of business.

Take a look at English classes that are available for this purpose. You are not looking for general English classes that teach the actual workings of the language, nor do you need conversational classes to improve your fluency. Instead you need a class that is going to tackle business English, and the idiomatic use of the language in everyday business situations.

Naturally, taking a formal course will greatly improve your English skills and therefore allow you to fit in with greater ease in your position at work. It will also demonstrate to your employers that you are ready to improve on your current skills in the hope of doing your job better. This should be very welcomed by any employer and shows them you are serious about your position. It will also help you should you decide to move job at any future stage. The job application process is definitely quite a formal one, and having improved business English language skills will be of huge benefit even at this stage.

Formalising your knowledge through a qualification is a good way of demonstrating your dedication and letting your employer see you are serious about your skill-set in general. This may prompt them to sponsor you financially to undertake another course, perhaps not even in English, but in an area that will help advance your career prospects.
See what English language courses are available in your area. Perhaps there is an English language school where you could enrol in a business English course, and then move on to complete exams to gain a formal qualification that will greatly enhance your CV. Check out what other students have to say about the school, the class you are interested in taking, and the teacher involved. There is generally a huge amount of information widely available on blogs that can help you make up your mind and find something suitable for your requirements.

So find out now how you can make a difference and improve your language. Since you have gone to the trouble of learning so much about English you really should make sure you have perfected the language. Then you will have to start thinking about what language to start next!
